Chief Legal Officer, Partner

Samuel Egendorf

Samuel Egendorf brings a wealth of project financing, project management and legal experience to Range Renewables. After graduating from Wesleyan University and Duke University School of Law, where he served as an editor on the Duke Law Review, Sam spent 3+ years practicing transactional law and project finance at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, LLP and, subsequently, Vinson & Elkins LLP. Sam’s notable clients include JP Morgan, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs Asset Management and TPG Capital.

In early 2019, Samuel pivoted from Big Law into his first non-legal role running solar project M&A and capital markets at C2 Energy Capital, LLC. Sam took the helm on all C2’s capital markets transactions during the latter half of 2020 while the firm’s principals were engaged in a sale process with EDP Renewables North America. After EDPR’s acquisition of C2 in March 2021, Samuel was appointed to Head of Capital Markets where he oversaw all capital raising and tax monetization efforts for EDPR’s distributed generation segment. Samuel is intimately familiar with the legal and regulatory framework for clean energy tax credits and the Inflation Reduction Act in particular, including tax credit transfers, prevailing wage compliance, ITC adders and tax credit insurance.

During his time in the IPP industry, Samuel has raised over $325MM in DG project capital across a variety of transactions including partnership flips, sale leasebacks, inverted leases, construction debt, permanent loans and portfolio refinancings. More recently, Samuel served as an advisor to a solar EPC company where he worked with company leadership to devise a proprietary structure for tax credit monetization.

Samuel lives in Brooklyn with his wife, son and two cats and occasionally gives lectures at Cornell on clean energy finance and sustainability.
